Conversation and Action Planning

In response to increased ICE arrests, aggressive enforcement tactics, fatal shootings, inhumane conditions for detainees, and ongoing violations of constitutional rights, Newcomers Access Center (NAC) convened our community for a critical conversation and action planning session held Saturday, August 29, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Claremont United Church of Christ. We invited the community to receive policy updates, hear from partner organizations and community leaders, and develop a collective plan for sustained engagement and support. This was NAC’s first Community Convening but it won’t be our last. Each time, we will hear from 3-4 partners and community leaders. We were pleased to kick off this series with presentations from the LA County Office of Immigrant Affairs, SGVoices, the Prison Library Project, and Trans Queer Institute.
